According to this New York Times article,

Recent laboratory tests found so much mercury in tuna sushi from 20 Manhattan stores and restaurants that at most of them, a regular diet of six pieces a week would exceed the levels considered acceptable by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Well, that is scary, especially since I eat a lot of sushi and I love tuna.

During a recent trip to Culebra, Puerto Rico, I was introduced to the newest, cleanest fish of all, the Culebran Cobia. These fish are raised in an open ocean aquaculture in the crystal blue Caribbean waters between Culebra and the Virgin Islands. After hearing the story of the Cobia from the waiter at Mamacita’s, I had to try it, and it was delicious.

For now, I’m staying away from tuna.
